Abstract
This study examined the effect of group art therapy on acculturative stress of Mongolian migrant workers" children. The participants of this study were 7 Molgol children who were attending an international school within the metropolitan area. They were all in 7th grade, 2 male and 5 female students. The children participated 18 programs of group art therapy from March 5, 2007 to July 2, 2007. It was 60 minutes per program and it was carried out once a week. For the purpose of the study, Sandhu and Asrabadi(l994)"s Acculturative Stress Scale for International Student was used for pretest and posttest. SPSS 14.0 was used to analyze the results and the results are as follows. The intervention of group art therapy resulted significant decrease of acculturative stress from 102.43 to 85.43(p£¼.05). In a subordinate realm, "homesickness" showed significant decrease(p£¼.01.). These results show that art therapy contributes to the decrease of acculturative stress of Molgol children. Art therapy allowed them to express the loss of homeland, and the loss of relatives back home.
